Not only are Marie and Sophie Hallynck renowned virtuosos on their respective instruments, they are also faithful chamber music partners, establishing the excellent ensemble Arpae more than ten years ago. Until now, their duo had never been recorded. This has now been corrected, with a recital that celebrates two traditions; that of the Suite, and that of the transcription. The suites presented here were all composed in the first half of the 20th century, and show the period from four different angles; ancient music (Marais and 18th century Italy, through Stravinsky), impressionism, elegantly presented on the harp (Tournier), and very real folklore (de Falla). A feast for the senses that will make the listener want to hear more of this magnificent duo!
